What to Expect: Language Adventures’s classes are typically offered once a week for 45 minutes.   Our unique approach to teaching children languages, is based on tested language-instruction techniques including Total Physical Response, the Rassias Method and the Multiple Intelligence Theory.  We build our classes around stories, movement, music, reading, writing tactile play and simple physical and verbal challenges that help your child learn in the way that is best suited to them.

 

Progress and Development for our elementary students: We will increase in scale and complexity, while also adding appropriate elements such as competition, collaboration and reading and writing for upper elementary students. Research shows that while you may not notice the full effect for years, forming an early foundation is the best way to learn another language, and with a native accent.  To accelerate your child’s language acquisition, we recommend providing as much exposure as possible through music, stories and games. Our music and audio videos with the appropriate pronuntiation from your teacher are ideal for reinforcing learning at home. Finally, we will send e-mails every couple of weeks with suggestions for ensuring that learning goes on outside of our classes.

Our Teachers: Our teachers are native or bilingual speakers with extensive experience working with children. They are committed to your child learning a new language and experiencing other cultures.

They are always striving to teach their students better, so feel free to offer them feedback as to how they can better reach your child. You will have the opportunity to schedule a brief conference with your teacher at the end of every session to go over specific questions about your child’s progress. Your Role in your Child’s program experience.

We ask that you bring your child as regularly as possible. We will provide many ideas and resources for reinforcing learning at home, typically geared towards parents who don’t speak another language. Please put these to work for your child! Your child will appreciate the effort you are putting in, and will benefit from the additional exposure. 

Above all, stick with it! Learning a language is a lifelong endeavor. Your child has a head start, because you’ve decided to give him or her an early start. If you and your family remain committed to this endeavor, your child will learn a second language.

 

Billing & Scheduling:  Our families typically enroll for a seasonal session of up to 10 weeks by going through the school registration process. Prices vary, depending on the number of classes in a session. We recommend that you enroll at the beginning of a session. 

The first time you enroll we will also ask you to pay a workbook fee of $15.00.  We occasionally need to combine classes, to ensure a sufficient number of students. 

 

Re-enrollment:  Because learning a language is a long-term endeavor, we hope you will re-enroll your child next session.
